From Ibericallo de Enlightenment we welcome you:

The IRC -CRI and the quality of LED light

In today's post, we talked about a very important term to take into account if you are dedicated to the field of LED lighting. It is the chromatic reproduction index or also known IRC. (in English CRI)

If we want colors and objects in general, this is especially available in stores, businesses, or local where objects, colors and features are something very important that should be highlighted is essential to have LED lighting with high chromatic reproduction index (IRC). But what do we understand by this index?

Ibericulum of lighting: Definition Index of chromatic reproduction

It is an international system that measures the ability of a light source to reproduce colors faithfully.

The IRC that we can also find with the acronym RA, is a scale of 0 to 100 expressed as percent that indicates the accuracy of a light source compared to sunlight.

This means that if we have a 100 RA, the colors are faithfully played. As we are moving away from this number increases the distortion of colors.

In LED lighting the higher the chromatic reproduction index of an LED bulb this will be more expensive, (given that the cost of the product is also increased).

Internationally, the following values are assumed depending on the RA:

Re

60

80

90

So far, few are the light sources with LED technology capable of reaching 100%, however there are already manufacturers that get a RA higher than 80.

Iberusion of lighting: Why is IRC important?

Light with an elevated IRC is necessary for work where high fidelity is essential in the representation of colors, as in photography and cinema. Since we use a low quality light source, we would ruin all the work.

That is why as a rule, in most cases an IRC is advised between 80 and 100%.

It is also important to achieve neutral colors, since the color that we perceive depends on the spectral distribution.

Ibericulum of lighting: Chromatic reproduction index and Consumption in LED

Until the appearance and development of LED lamps, lamps with greater chromatic reproduction were not characterized by their low consumption. This is the case of incandescent luminaires.

The relationship was proportional: to greater IRC higher consumption in watts, and it used to be the case that with a lower smaller IRC consumption (Ratio Lumen Watt).

However, the evolution of LED lighting has turned around this conception. LED luminaires have a chromatic reproduction index, usually greater than 80 and, in addition, minimal energy consumption.

Ibericulum of lighting: Differences between the IRC and the color temperature.

Finally, to end this post, we want to clarify the difference between the chromatic reproduction index and the color temperature that can sometimes induce error.

As explained, the IRC faithfully measures the degree of reproduction of colors while the color temperature is a scientific measure to describe the level of "warmth" or "coldness" of a light source, it is based on the color of light emitted by An incandescent font. If you want to expand information about it, we leave this link on the color temperature so that you can understand the difference between the color temperature and the IRC.

If you have any questions about the content or want us to specify or talk more than one topic, you can let us know through a comment and we will review your request! From our web Iberical Lighting we will be happy to help you.

We hope you liked the article! =)

LED lighting What color temperature (K) is to choose from?

Ibericulum of lighting: What is the color temperature in LED lighting?

In LED lighting the temperature of color or correlated (measured in degrees Kelvin). It is a scientific measure to describe the level of "warmth" or "coldness" of a light source, it is based on the color of light emitted by a source Incandescent.

In LED lighting it is a very important term that is taken into account in each installation. The color temperature of a light source is defined by comparing its color within the luminous spectrum with that of the light that will emit a black body heated at a given temperature. For this reason, this color temperature is expressed in Kelvin, despite not expressly reflecting a measure of temperature, because it is the same only one relative measure.

Iberical lighting: What is the unit of measure?

The unit of measure is Kelvin, comes derived from the previously explained theory that the colors appear when heating an ideal body, and that according to the temperature that it radiates irradiates or other colors.

Iberusion of lighting: Color temperature in LED lighting disposes of three important colors that are warm, neutral and cold. The higher the value, "colder" is the effect of light. In 3300K light is designated as warm, between 3300K and 5300K neutral and from 5300k white light.

According to experts the warm color between 3000K is for more relaxed atmosphere can be used in bedrooms, salons etc ... Neutral color comprised in 4000k resembles

natural light, its use is recommended in hospitals, pharmacies, offices etc ..

The cold color between 6000K resembles the daylight, is ideal for kitchens. One of the most frequent doubts in LED lighting is the color temperature.

Iberical of lighting: What color is the most suitable for each space?

Depending on each space the color temperature may vary.

The color temperature is very important in the work centers, since it has a lot of influence on performance and concentration, high temperature resembles daylight and many people focus more with it. However, if what you want is to get a relaxing effect, the temperature light should be low, since it is calmer for your eyes.

If we want to compare two different lamps, to check which of them reproduces the colors with higher quality, it is essential that both lamps have a similar color temperature, since some lamps can highlight tones depending on the color temperature of the light emitting.

The color of an object illuminated by two lamps with the same IRC will vary if each of the lamps has a different color temperature. In Ibericallo de Enlightenment we have those color temperatures in several articles.

LED bells iberic lighting

Ibericulum Lighting: Hood Industrial LED 40W

The 40W industrial LED bell is recommended for spaces with a height less than 3 meters. This hood has 4000 lumens, an angle of 90º and IP44 protection.

In this space the 40W bell has been used to illuminate the hallway. The height is less than 3 meters. The sobriety of the space combined with the 40W bell gives it an industrial, decorative and aesthetic touch.

Ibericallo Lighting: Industrial Hood LED 110W

If you need more lumens we have available LED industrial bells of 110w recommended for a height between 6 and 7 meters. This bell has 11000 lumens, also 90º and an IP44.

Example of this type of lighting is that carried out in this workshop. These 110W Industrial LED bells are placed uniformly to generate a base light by emphasizing the areas where the cars are located.

Ibericallo Lighting: Industrial Hood LED 160W and 210W

In case the place has a height between 7 and 9 meters, we recommend the 160W LED bell which has 16000 lumens, 110º.

To be greater than 9 meters we recommend the LED bell of 210W. In this case the lumens are 20000, the opening is maintained at 110º. The protection is also IP44.

General Characteristics of LED bells: Iberical lighting.

These LED bells without SMD driver are characterized by their high power and luminosity, by having an aluminum base plate of 3mm for a correct dissipation of the generated heat.

The operation of the plate is with integrated circuit of high quality. It has a high yield of 100 lm / w, supporting tension peaks of up to 700 volts and IP44 protection. The bell is adjustable from 25% to 100% so that you can choose the amount of light you want to be emitted by being able to adapt to each space and time of day.

The common use of these LED bells are mainly large spaces such as warehouses, industrial warehouses, workshops, parkings ... However, as we have seen it can also be decorative purposes.

Calculation for a correct choice of the power supply. Iberusion of lighting:

Once we have decided the voltage that we want to install the calculation is very simple (from Iberocalion of Lighting: we advise, as long as we can, LED strips to 12V):

We just have to know the installation meters that we want to put, and we will multiply it for the power per meter that has the chosen LED strip. Finally, we will multiply by 1.20 with the objective of not overloading the power supply.

The result obtained will be power, which at a minimum, must have our power source if we want to avoid any type of problem.

Example:

We have a kitchen cabinet of 2 meters long and we want to install a LED strip at the bottom of 14.4w per meter. The proper power supply would be:

2 x 14.4 = 28.8 x 1.20 = 34.56 watts that must have at least the power supply.

Visit our Web Iberical Lighting and acquire optimal power supplies for your installation.
